036 - TEKA BANDAR (1)..NAMA BANDAR???

Sebuah bandar pelabuhan, pusat perdagangan & cultural. Mengalami pembangunan yang pesat ‘boom’ selepas negaranya merdeka pada 50 tahun lalu (dekat-dekat sama Malaysia merdeka). Bandar yang mengalami perkembangan paling pesat. Salah satu ‘world's fastest growing cities’. Uprgade your urban planning knowledge..

Jawapannya:
..." L a g o s was the former capital city of Nigeria but it has since been replaced by Abuja. Abuja officially gained its status as the capital of Nigeria on 12 December 1991. Today, the word Lagos most often refers to the urban area, called "Metropolitan Lagos" in Nigeria, which includes both the islands of the former municipality of Lagos and the mainland suburbs. Lagos State government is responsible for some of the utilities including roads and transportation, power, water, health, and education. Lagos City has a considerable amount of high rise buildings which makes up its skyline. Most of the tall buildings are located in around the downtown Central Business District. Lagos is a huge metropolis which originated on islands separated by creeks, such as Lagos Island, that fringe the southwest mouth of Lagos Lagoon, protected from the Atlantic Ocean by long sand spits such as Bar Beach which stretch up to 100 km east and west of the mouth. From the beginning Lagos has spread on the mainland west of the lagoon and the conurbation, including Ikeja and Agege, now reaches more than 40 km north-west of Lagos Island. There are Lagos Outskirts like Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry and recently more local councils have been created to bring the total numbers of local government to 56. The city is the economic and financial capital of Nigeria.
It is hard to believe that Lagos, Nigeria's biggest, busiest city with a population of roughly 15 million and counting, had its origins as a small Yoruba settlement. Spread over several large islands on a vast lagoon (hence its name) and the mainland near the Gulf of Guinea, Lagos is Nigeria's principal port and its commercial and cultural centre. The former capital grew to prominence when it was 'discovered' by the Portuguese in the late 1400s and became a central trading post for the area, also serving as a major hub of the slave trade. When the British annexed the city in 1861, they effectively put a stop to the slave trade, but took control of the trade and industry of the area. Once Nigeria gained independence in 1960, Lagos experienced a boom, which swelled the city's population and today, Lagos is one of the world's fastest growing cities with a full and complex tapestry of religious and ethnic groups. The sprawling city is chaotic, crowded and lacks any major tourism infrastructure. Most visitors come here for business and there are few sights in the tourist sense. Streets are congested, drivers are maniacal and blackouts are common. However, the convoluted history of the city, and Nigeria as a whole, contributes to its exotic flavour. Lagos has an interesting National Museum, National Theatre, several markets and some decent beaches to explore

034 - Motivasi lagi..Menjadi Remaja Hebat - TIADA EGO

5. Sering sahaja bercekak pinggang sebagai gambaran membesar diri.
6. Payah hendak bertegur sapa kecuali kalau orang lain mendahuluinya.
7. Isi perbualan atau percakapannya sering saja melebihkan diri.

029 - “Suburban village” model and its components

The suburban villages concept is valuable as it encourages human scale design features, higher densities, environmental improvements, mixed use and opportunities to use transit instead of the car. New developments based on the suburban villages concept offer a choice of housing and lifestyle and potentially an improvement in quality of life. The concept could be appropriate to areas around the City provided developments are well-planned and compatible with their surroundings.

Physical components
An suburban village is designed with a mix of uses and activities. Buildings front onto the streets and densities are generally higher. The streets are connected and provide direct routes. The community size allows housing, jobs and services to be within walking distance of each other. A diversity of housing types accommodates a range of income levels, a mixed commercial and residential main street and a pedestrian-friendly layout with an emphasis on public spaces.

Social components
Within a suburban village, opportunities for meeting other residents are an important part of the village concept. Services such as the corner store, post office, schools and coffee shops are located in the community and within walking distance of homes. Housing for a variety of ages and socio-economic groups is inter-mixed to encourage the interaction of different groups.

Economic components
Employment, retail uses and community services are located within the community with the aim of reducing travel and building on the benefits of social interaction. Businesses that can provide a range of job types help to maximise local employment opportunities.

Transportation components
A suburban village includes a layout which encourages walking to work, shopping and services. A suburban village may have a transit centre as a focus so that residents are not dependent on car transport. Bicycle paths and direct footpaths encourage non-motorized transport.

Environmental components
An ample supply of open space, parks and green areas provides a pleasant natural environment. The emphasis on transit, walking and cycling helps to reduce the use motor vehicles.

028 - Writing a Compelling Vision Statement in Suburban Neighbourhood Planning

A vision statement is a vivid idealized description of a desired outcome that inspires, energizes and helps you create a mental picture of your target. It could be a vision of a part of your life, or the outcome of a project, plan or goal.
For projects, plans and goals, the vision statement should focus on the desired outcome of the project/goal at its completion date. Here are some guidelines for writing compelling and powerful vision statements:

- Summarize Your Vision in a Powerful Phrase.

- Take as Much Space as You Need.

- Your Vision Statement Should Describe the Best Possible Outcome.

- Make your Vision Statement Emotional.

- Add Sensory Details to Your Vision Statement.

Some examples:

“ Creation of a well-designed, family focused and inviting pedestrian-oriented destination served by multi-modal transit, and providing healthy, varied community- and visitor-serving uses for the families and residents ”.

" To build a true “suburban village,” a self-sustainable community “where people can live, work, shop and entertain within the area in order to achieve smart-growth vision for strengthening the community “.“

“ To create the dynamic mix of commercial, employment, residential and open space uses thats will result in quality developments in promoting higher densities, support transit, reduce automobile trips, and preserve the natural environment “.

"To create market-oriented land development towards collaborative, replicable models and processes that balance economic viability, environmental health, social equity and cultural vitality”.

“ To develop as an inspirational neighbourhood benefiting both people and the environment, now and in the future by integrate beautifully designed natural, public, private and commercial spaces into a pedestrian friendly, mixed use community for young families, active adults and seniors”.

“ Makes sustainable living easy, attractive and affordable, creates a high quality of life while enabling residents to live within the ecological limits, striking a balance between economic prosperity, social responsibility and environmental”.

“ To create community connections, diversity, vitality and convenience within the area with sufficient and varied housing supply, access to public transportation and reduced vehicular traffic“.

“ To create a place to live and work where there is less dependence on automobile transportation and to create connections between people, places and the environment where people are connected to the land and to each other ; where the environment truly is sustainable with community gardens, recycling, composting, gray water systems, and solar siting all are encouraged and flourish “.

....thinks more and you visualize better.
