10@KESILAPAN PARA PENSYARAH SEMASA KULIAH:

Kesilapan@10. When you ask a question in class, immediately call for volunteers - Few students even bother to think about the question, since they know that eventually someone else will provide the answer.

Kesilapan@9. Call on students without giving them time to think - Please… ask the question and give the students a short time to come up with an answer.

Kesilapan@8. Turn classes into PowerPoint shows.

Kesilapan@7. Fail to provide variety in instruction - Almost nonstop lecturing - Do not motivate students by sharing their experience and wisdom.

Kesilapan@6. Have students work in groups with no individual accountability.

Kesilapan@5. Fail to establish relevance of course content to their interests and career goals.

Kesilapan@4. Give tests that are too long.

Kesilapan@3: Get stuck in a rut - feel satisfied with the lecture notes & don't change a thing for the rest of their careers.

Kesilapan@2. Teach without clear learning objectives.

Kesilapan@1. Disrespect students - If you give students a sense that you don't respect them, probably its a bad experience for everyone no matter what else you do.

025 - Presentation Mistake & A Better Scenario for Studiowork Presentation

Bandar Acheh: Before & After Tsunami

Presentation Mistake #1 - You Don't Know Your Topic!
You memorized the content. Someone has a question. Panic sets in. You never prepared for questions and all you know about this topic is what is written on the slides.

A better scenario: Know your material so well, Be prepared for questions and know the answers.

Presentation Mistake #2 - The Slides Are Not Your Presentation
Each of your slides in filled with the text of your speech. Why do they need you in front?

A better scenario : Always remember that you are the presentation. The slide show should only be used as an accompaniment to your talk. Simplify the content. Speak to the audience, not to the screen.

Presentation Mistake #3 - Too Much Information
You know so much about the topic, that you jump from here to there and back again talking about everything, and no one can follow the thread of the presentation.

A better scenario : Use the K.I.S.S. principle (Keep It Silly Simple) when designing a presentation. Stick to three, or at the most, four points about your topic and give further details about them.

Presentation Mistake #4 - Poorly Chosen Design or Theme
You heard blue was a good color for a design template or design theme, with a beach scene. Water is blue, right? Unfortunately, your presentation is about some effective new tools.

A better scenario
Choose a design that is appropriate for the audience. A clean, straightforward layout is best for project presentations.

Presentation Mistake #5 - Electrifying Color Choices
Audiences don't like unusual color combinations. Some are unsettling and red and green combos can't be differentiated by those with color blindness.

A better scenario
Good contrast with the background is essential to make your text easy to read. Dark text on a light background is best. Off white or light beige is easier on the eyes than the typical white. Dark backgrounds are very effective, if the text is light for easy reading. Patterned or textured backgrounds make text hard to read.

Presentation Mistake #6 - Poor Font Choices
Small, script type fonts might look great when you are sitting 18 inches away from the monitor. You didn't consider the audience sitting 50 feet away from the screen who can't read them.

A better scenario : Stick to easy to read fonts such as Arial or Times New Roman. Use no more than two different fonts – one for headings, another for content and no less than a 30 pt font so that people at the back of the room can read them easily.

Presentation Mistake #7 - Extraneous Photos and Graphs
You figured no one will notice that you didn't do much research on your topic if you add lots of photos and complicated looking graphs.

A better scenario : Use photos, charts and diagrams only to emphasize key points of your presentation. Illustrate, don't decorate.

Presentation Mistake #8 - Too Many Slides
Your vacation cruise was so fantastic that you took 200 photos, and put them all in a digital photo album to impress your friends. After the first 50 slides, snores were heard in the room.

A better scenario : Ensure your audience stays focused by keeping the number of slides to a minimum. 20 to 30 is plenty. Be kind though. Think how much you enjoy everyone else’s vacation pictures!

Presentation Mistake #9 - Different Animations on Every Slide
You found all the really cool animations and sounds and used 85% of them in your presentation, to impress everyone with your flair. The audience doesn’t know where to look, and have totally lost the message of your presentation.

A better scenario : Animations and sounds, used well, can heighten interest, but don't distract the audience with too much of a good thing. Don't let your audience suffer from animation overload.

Presentation Mistake #10 - Hardware Malfunctions
The audience is settled. You are all set to start your presentation and - guess what? The computer doesn't work. You didn’t bother to check it out earlier.

A better scenario : Check all the equipment and rehearse your presentation,

023 - PANDANGAN PAKAR TENTANG REMAJA MASAKINI

2010 A New Milestone For Rural And Regional Development Ministry
Ditulis oleh BERNAMA Isnin, 25 Januari 2010 14:46
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- The year 2010 is a significant year for the Rural and Regional Development Ministry as the ministry will be implementing the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) agenda. The NKRA, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last July covers six core areas with the task to improve rural infrastructure and amenities entrusted with the ministry and its Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. The remaining five NKRA cores are improving the standard of living of low wage earners, reducing crime, eradicating corruption, improving access to education of quality and improving the public transportation system all in the medium term.

And for each of the core areas, the respective minister will be leading the efforts.

FOUR SUB-NKRA FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT

As for the rural NKRA, there are four sub-NKRA given focus namely Connecting Roads, Rural Water Supply, Rural Electricity Supply and the Household Aid Programme.

Mohd Shafie pointed out, comparatively, the Rural-NKRA has been the most challenging one with the biggest allocation amounting to almost RM17 billion and the implementation process is set to take a long time.

If seen from the enormous work involved and the short time frame, each one of the sub-NKRA calls for greater efforts and commitment from the ministry's employees.

"However, under the NKRA, the duration is much shorter about three years only where we will be building 1,500km of rural roads, that is four times longer," he said in his new year message to the employees of the ministry.

Other than the NKRA, also from 2010, the ministry will launch Minister Key Result Area (MKRA) with three sub focus areas - improving the livelihood of smallholders, entrepreneur development and Orang Asli community development.

THE 9MP

Meanwhile, more than 25 per cent of the allocation under 9MP have yet to be utilised. This indirectly indicates that there are a number of projects yet to be completed. The total allocation for the ministry under 9MP is RM16.47 billion, a staggering figure. Up to Dec 31, 2009, which also marks the end of 9MP period, about RM12.07 billion or 73 per cent of the total amount has been utilised and the ministry has started to prepare for the 10th MP.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN

Other than the focus for the projects under the NKRA, human capital and entrepreneurial development are also given emphasis to meet the goals of making Malaysia a high wage economy.

In focusing on NKRA and the three sub focus areas under MKRA, the Rural Development Master Plan is being drafted to serve as a comprehensive guideline for the coming 10 years, culminating in the goals of Vision 2020.

This master plan determines the direction of rural development and serves as the guideline for related agencies in implementing development. The master plan that is expected to be ready by September 2010 is to integrate new development policies with the existing ones including decisions of the Cabinet.

019 - A Model Suburban Village

Hancunhe: A Model Suburban Village
How a poor village on the outskirts of Beijing becomes the prototype for a new and wealthy "modern countryside"

Some principal to Create Suburban Neighbourhood

Principle for Creating Neighborhood Identity
Establishing and preserving identity relies on a commonly held neighborhood
image and the qualities that make it distinct. Concept plan recommends
the following physical improvements, in coordination with neighborhood associations.
• Neighborhood gateway markers.
• Traffic calming on residential streets, if desired, and located with input from neighborhoods.
• Enhanced street lighting (maintain existing, supplement when appropriate).
• Street trees.
• Architectural compatibility for new residential initiatives.
• Adequate landscape buffering between residential and non-residential development.
• Rehabilitation or infill of existing single family, or new residential development, around neighborhood villages
• Provide new residential development opportunities, where appropriate, to allow a diverse population and market segment to be part of the neighborhood fabric.

Principle for Establish Neighborhood Connection
The principle of neighborhood connection involves a strategy to link residents
among and within neighborhoods, along the corridor, and with other neighborhood
villages. The concept plan recommends:
• Physical connection enhancement through sidewalks, pedestrian, and bike
• trails.
• Sidewalks should be maintained and extended throughout neighborhoods
• Program and policy connections, such as partnering to ensure that transit opportunities meet the needs of the community, as redevelopment initiatives become a reality.

018 - Suburban Village-Fields of Action for Planners

016 - Rebakan Pembandaran & Suburban Village (Kampung Pinggir Bandar)

012 - BEING A THINKER OR A DOER....OR NOT TO BE!

Most people are oriented towards being a thinker or a doer.

Thinkers tend to be better educated and having had the opportunity to go to a tertiary educational institution. They tend to land white collar jobs and have relatively high starting salaries. Doers while also possibly having a tertiary education, will tend to be adept in having hands-on skills and experience.

Doers on the other hand, tend to have action-oriented conversations. They talk about specifics of what they might do. They might lack the overall 'strategy' for going about doing what they plan to do. They may think one step ahead, maybe two or three. But the ‘big picture’ may be a pie-in-the-sky concept for them. After all, actions speak louder than words.

Thinkers have a larger chance of success at what they do, because they will have well-thought out plans. Doers however, may not have a complete game plan, or even a game plan. The venture may have a higher rate of failure. But the weird thing is that successful entrepreneurs are more likely to be doers, rather than thinkers. Why is that? Besides the process, there’s also the what happens after the outcome is achieved whether success or failure. The thinkers are likely to do an analysis, reflection, extended periods of navel gazing, call it what you will. Doers on the other hand, will dust off their knees, get up, say to themselves, ‘ok, let’s not do that again’ They attempt to succeed again. And again. And again. Until success comes.

In the final analysis, a thinker might have a 40% chance of success, and he may attempt to succeed once, maybe twice. On the other hand, a doer may have a 15% chance of success, but he will try and try, and try, and try, and try, and try until he succeeds.

Would you choose to be a thinker? Or a doer?
Gunakan akal fikiran setiap masa sebelum berkata-kata, sebelum bertindak maupun sebelum memulakan sebarang kerja.

009 - DOA PEMBUKA DUA BELAS PINTU

.....Sama-samalah kita amalkannya.

Dengan Nama Allah Yang Maha Pengasih Lagi Maha Penyayang

Maksudnya :
Ya Allah, bukakanlah untukku pintu-pintu kebaikan, pintu-pintu keselamatan, pintu-pintu kesihatan, pintu-pintu nikmat, pintu-pintu keberkatan, pintu-pintu kekuatan, pintu-pintu cinta sejati, pintu-pintu kasih sayang, pintu-pintu rezeki, pintu-pintu ilmu, pintu-pintu keampunan dan pintu-pintu syurga. Ya Allah Yang Maha Pengasih Lagi Maha Penyayang.
